Amanda is experienced in all areas of family law and estate litigation, including where those two areas intersect. She has represented clients at every level of court in British Columbia, in arbitrations, and in out-of-court negotiated settlements. Amanda’s approach to her cases combines pragmatism, strong legal knowledge, and a deep understanding of her clients and their circumstances.
Amanda’s family law practice focuses on later-in-life separations, often involving blended families. She has worked with families involved in multi-generational disputes, and advises executors, administrators, and trustees on family law issues.
In estate matters, Amanda represents beneficiaries, executors, administrators, and trustees in a wide range of disputes. Aside from acting for estate representatives in family matters, Amanda acts for clients whose status as a spouse is challenged. Amanda frequently represents parties in estate matters involving complex corporate and trust structures.
Amanda has been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada as a leading practitioner in the areas of family law and estates and trusts. Amanda is a contributor to CLEBC’s Family Law Sourcebook as chapter editor for “Testamentary Issues in Family Law”. She is a regular presenter at conferences and seminars on topics concerning family law, estates and trusts, and where those areas intersect.
Before joining Scion Law, Amanda was a partner at a large regional law firm, practicing exclusively in family law and estate litigation.
On a personal note, when not at the office, Amanda enjoys gardening, reading, and trying out new Vancouver restaurants with her husband, Jesse.
